What are Codex credits?

Codex credits are OpenAI's pay-as-you-go add-on for ChatGPT Plus and Pro. Your plan's Codex usage is used first; once you hit the limit, Codex draws from your credits. The plan itself doesn't change. Credits are valid for 12 months and also cover other supported features such as ChatGPT Work, Excel and PowerPoint. They are not OpenAI API credits. OpenAI puts a typical GPT-5.6 Sol task at 2–15 credits.

What does my account need?

An active ChatGPT Plus or Pro personal plan. Free, Go and Business workspace accounts can't take credits from us.

Will it change my plan or renewal?

No. Credits sit on top of your plan; your plan and renewal date stay as they are.

Do credits expire?

Yes — 12 months after purchase. Unused credits don't roll over.

Can I buy more than once?

Yes. The same account can buy again; credits add up.

Where do I see my balance?

ChatGPT → Settings → Usage, or Usage & Billing in the Codex app.

Why do small packs cost a bit more than OpenAI?

OpenAI only takes foreign cards. We pay for you and carry the exchange and card fees, which weigh more on small packs. From 2500 credits up we're cheaper than OpenAI.

Are these API credits?

No. Codex credits work in ChatGPT and Codex only, not on the OpenAI API platform.
