# How to pay for ChatGPT Plus without a credit card: 5 ways compared

Choices · About 6 minutes · Updated 2026-10-27

On chatgpt.com OpenAI takes credit and debit cards, plus a few local methods in some countries; in the app you pay through the App Store or Google Play. If you have no card or yours is declined, people use one of five workarounds. Here is what each costs, how hard it is, whether you keep your own account, and what can go wrong, including when Pay2GPT is not your best option.

## The five ways side by side

| Method | What you pay | Effort | Your own account | Main risk |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Top-up service such as Pay2GPT | Official price plus a service fee (Plus is $21.90, Plus Half Price $13.90 here) | Low, a few minutes | Yes | Choosing an untrustworthy service |
| Virtual credit card | Official price plus card opening, top-up and currency fees | High, identity checks and card setup | Yes | The card is declined, or the provider closes |
| App Store gift card with a foreign Apple ID | App Store price plus the reseller's markup on the gift card | Medium, a second Apple ID and a gift card source | Yes | Invalid or recalled gift cards |
| Shared account | Lowest, split between users | Low | No | Sign-outs, exposed chats, the account disappearing |
| Friend or family member abroad | Official price only | Low for you, monthly effort for them | Yes | Depends on the other person, every month |

## Top-up service

A top-up service takes your payment in a method you already have, such as Alipay, a domestic card or USDT, and activates the subscription on your own ChatGPT account. You pay a little above OpenAI's price, and in return you need no card, no foreign Apple ID and nobody abroad. Your chats, settings and history stay where they are.

The risk sits with the service, not the method. Cheap top-ups paid with stolen cards are the classic cause of bans when the real cardholder disputes the charge. Use a service that never asks for your password, activates your own account, publishes its refund rules, and lets you track the order. On Pay2GPT you submit your login details only on your own order page, a failed activation is refunded in full, and a 30-day warranty covers a plan that drops.

If your account got OpenAI's half-price Plus offer, Plus Half Price on Pay2GPT is just $13.90, and it's regular Plus for a month. You can check eligibility for free first.

## Virtual credit card

A virtual card issued abroad lets you pay OpenAI directly at the official price, which suits people who also pay for other foreign services. The catch is the setup. You usually pass an identity check, pay an opening fee, top the card up through a separate channel, and pay currency conversion each time. Some card ranges are declined by OpenAI's checkout, and if the provider shuts down or freezes your card, renewal fails.

If you only want ChatGPT, the fees and effort often add up to more than a top-up service. If you'll use the card for many subscriptions, it can work out cheaper over time.

## App Store gift card with a foreign Apple ID

On iPhone you can subscribe inside the ChatGPT app and pay with your Apple ID balance. This needs an Apple ID set to a region where the subscription is sold, plus gift cards for that region. Apple bills the subscription, so you cancel and renew through Apple, and the in-app price can differ from the web price.

Gift cards bought from resellers carry a markup, and the main danger is a card that was obtained fraudulently and later recalled, which can lock the Apple ID balance. Buy only from sources you trust, and keep the purchase records.

## Shared account

A shared account is the cheapest per person because several people split one subscription. It is also the weakest option. It isn't your account, other users can read your chats, usage limits are shared, and frequent sign-ins from many places and password changes are exactly what trips OpenAI's risk controls. OpenAI's terms don't allow sharing account credentials, and when a shared account is closed, everyone on it loses access and history with no recourse.

## Asking a friend or relative abroad

If someone you trust has an accepted card, they can pay on your account at the official price. This is the cheapest legitimate route and carries no service risk. It does mean their card is saved on your account, renewals depend on them each month, and a declined renewal or a forgotten cancellation becomes something to sort out between you.

## When Pay2GPT is not the best choice

- You already have a card OpenAI accepts. Paying OpenAI directly is cheaper.
- A trusted friend abroad is happy to pay for you each month.
- You already use a foreign Apple ID on iPhone and have a reliable gift card source.
- You need company invoices or seats managed by an admin. OpenAI's own team plans fit better.
- You only chat occasionally. The free plan or a cheaper plan may be enough.

## Which one to pick

If you want to keep your own account, pay with Alipay, a domestic card or USDT, and be done in minutes, a trustworthy top-up service is the shortest path. If you'd rather pay the official price and don't mind setup, a virtual card or a friend abroad is better. Avoid shared accounts if your chats or your history matter to you.

## Four things we promise

- **No password** — We never ask for your password or verification code. You paste the Session only on your own order page.
- **Session not stored in the database** — The Session is used only to activate this order and is not stored in the database. Logging out of all devices in ChatGPT revokes it.
- **Full refund if it can't be activated** — If we can't activate your plan, the full amount goes back to the way you paid.
- **Lost within 30 days? Restored free** — If the plan stops working within 30 days of activation for reasons not on your side, we restore it free or refund the remaining days.

Problems caused by your own account, such as sharing or reselling it, are not covered; the Terms of Service decide. [Terms of Service →](https://pay2gpt.com/en/terms.md)

**Keep your own account, no overseas card** Full refund on failure · 30-day warranty [Get Plus](https://pay2gpt.com/en/checkout?plan=plus)
