Official invites vs. earning per referral Choices · About 5 minutes · Updated 2026-11-08 ChatGPT has no permanent referral program open to everyone. OpenAI occasionally picks some users in some countries to send trial invites, and its terms say those codes can't be sold or exchanged for cash. If you want real money for recommending ChatGPT, there's Pay2GPT referrals. A friend gets ChatGPT through your link and you earn $1 per order, renewals included, with withdrawals any time. - OpenAI hands out invites per campaign, per country and per account. If you haven't seen an invite option in an email or inside ChatGPT, you weren't picked this time. - OpenAI's terms say referral codes and links can't be sold, transferred or exchanged for cash, so “Plus invite codes” sold online break the rules and are often dead. - Pay2GPT referrals are our own program. You earn $1 every time a friend buys or renews, and a friend who first came through your link counts for you for good. ## Does ChatGPT have an official referral program? Sometimes, but not always and not for everyone. OpenAI's Help Center says it “may” let eligible users invite friends and family to a free trial of a paid plan. How many invites, how long the trial lasts, which plan and who can redeem it are set separately for each campaign, and the users picked are told by email or by a prompt inside ChatGPT. The most recent public campaign was the ChatGPT Free referral campaign, from August 18 to September 17, 2026, open only to selected Free users in India, Indonesia and Mexico. The reward wasn't money or Plus. Each new user you brought in doubled your Free usage limits for 7 days, up to 3 rewards (21 days). The campaign has ended. | Question | Trial invites | ChatGPT Free referral campaign | | --- | --- | --- | | Who can invite | Users OpenAI picks for a campaign | Selected Free users in India, Indonesia and Mexico | | What the inviter gets | Nothing, they only pass on a trial | Doubled Free usage limits for 7 days, up to 21 days | | What the invitee gets | A trial of a paid plan, such as Plus | A new Free account | | When | Irregularly | Aug 18 – Sep 17, 2026, ended | | Can it be sold or cashed out | No | No | [OpenAI Help Center: promotional subscriptions and free trial invites](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8381046) [OpenAI Help Center: ChatGPT Free referral campaign](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/20001479-chatgpt-free-referral-campaign) ## Should you buy a “ChatGPT Plus invite code”? No. OpenAI's terms are explicit. Trials, promotional subscriptions, referral codes and referral links are only for the person they were issued to. They can't be duplicated, sold or transferred, can't be exchanged for cash, and may expire early. If OpenAI spots abuse, it can cancel the trial or even suspend the account, with no refund. In practice, bought codes rarely work anyway. Trial invites are usually only for new or Free users, so an account that has paid before often can't redeem one. Some campaigns also require a payment method on file and charge the full price if you don't cancel before the trial ends. Codes sold online are often expired, limited to another country or already used. Offers like “send me your login and I'll redeem it for you” are riskier still. A sign-in from an unknown device in another country can trigger security checks, and the other person can read all your chats. A friend comes to Pay2GPT through your referral link and gets a ChatGPT plan on their own account, and you earn $1 for every such order. | Rule | Details | | --- | --- | | Per order | $1, the same for Plus, Pro, Go and Codex credits | | Renewals | Count. Every time your friend renews, you earn another $1 | | Whose friend they are | Whoever's link first brought them, for good. Using someone else's link later changes nothing | | Orders in Telegram | Count. Orders on the website and in @Pay2GPTBot both count | | Refunds | Don't count. If an order is refunded or charged back, its reward is voided | | Referring yourself | Not allowed | | Withdrawals | Any time. Request it on the referral page and we pay it out by hand | [Open my referral page →](https://pay2gpt.com/en/referral) ## How to get your referral link It takes a minute. The link never expires, so share it once and every order counts, whenever your friend gets around to buying. 1. Open the Pay2GPT referral page and click “Get my referral card”. 2. Enter your email and sign in with the code, or click “Continue with Telegram”. If you've bought from us before, use the same email or Telegram so your orders and rewards sit in one account. 3. Once you're signed in, the page shows your referral link and code. Copy the link or share it straight to Telegram. 4. You can also get it in Telegram. Open @Pay2GPTBot and tap “Invite friends” in the menu, and the bot sends your link and stats. ## How much can you earn in a year? Rewards are per order, so the longer friends keep renewing, the more you earn. Say you refer 5 friends who each pay for Plus monthly for a full year. That's 5 × 12 = 60 orders at $1 each. This assumes one renewal per friend per month; real numbers depend on how your friends renew. The referral page has a calculator. Drag the number of friends and months to see an estimate. Once signed in, you also see how many people you've invited, orders activated, total earned and your available balance. ## Who to send it to, and what to say It lands best with friends who want ChatGPT Plus but keep getting their card declined, people who bought shared or resold accounts and worry about bans, and developers who use Codex and keep hitting the limits. Keep it short and say what it solves, for example “I get ChatGPT Plus here — it's activated on my own account, no card-decline hassle”, then add your link. Don't spam your link in groups of strangers. It reads as an ad, gets you kicked and rarely brings real buyers. A line in your own blog, newsletter or Telegram channel, or a message to friends with your honest take, works better. Not a permanent one. OpenAI occasionally sends trial invites to some users in some countries, and those picked see them by email or inside ChatGPT. The latest public campaign in 2026 was only for Free users in India, Indonesia and Mexico, and it ended on September 17. ### If my friend orders in the Telegram bot, do I still get the reward? Yes. As long as your friend first came through your link, every order they place on the website or in @Pay2GPTBot counts for you. ### When is the reward credited, and how do I withdraw? It's added to your balance as soon as your friend's order is activated. Once you have a balance, request a withdrawal on the referral page and we pay it out by hand. ### Is Pay2GPT's referral program connected to OpenAI? No. Pay2GPT runs and pays for it on its own. It has nothing to do with OpenAI's official invites and doesn't touch your or your friend's ChatGPT account. ## Related guides - [Is it safe to give Pay2GPT my Session?](https://pay2gpt.com/en/guide/safe.md) - [How to pay for ChatGPT Plus without a credit card: 5 ways compared](https://pay2gpt.com/en/guide/compare.md) - [ChatGPT Plus payment declined? Restored free** — If the plan stops working within 30 days of activation for reasons not on your side, we restore it free or refund the remaining days.
